Affordable Housing
We are a key delivery partner to a number of Registered Providers and Local Authorities and our experience has been underlined by the successful completion of numerous schemes of which several have been recognised for regional awards, including one nationally that won Best High Volume Housing Development for East Midlands, beating several national contractors.
Our experience and resources allow us to undertake schemes from small single number garage sites up to sites 100+ in density, all delivered either under a turnkey design and build basis or traditionally. Our extensive knowledge of the sector allows us to understand the various tenures available to our clients and hone down on the specifications to provide maximum bang for buck.
The majority of our units are developed using Modern Methods of Construction such as timber frame as well as masonry if desired, but we are always striving to embrace new technologies and are currently investing in modular opportunities as well as renewable heating and power systems.
Education
We have been fortunate to support the education sector in countless projects ranging from minor works and maintenance through to new schools and every kind of project in between. These relationships have extended to Lincolnshire County Council, Mouchel, University of Lincoln, The Peterborough School, St Therese of Lisieux Catholic Multi Academy Trust, Northampton County Council and many more directly across Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Rutland.
We have a key understanding of the core principles required vs residential such as robust health and safety including pupil/staff segregation, structured delivery restrictions, asbestos awareness training for older buildings and the ability to use a large in-house labour resource to accelerate programmes where required to meet critical dates.
Healthcare
Operating in the Blue Light sector requires core skills in a variety of aspects including programme management, communication and the adaptiveness to work around a constantly moving environment.
D Brown are proud to have supported various local NHS Trusts and facilities to support frontline services. Previous projects range from planned maintenance of fire doors and electrical systems, through to large scale refurbishment and new build, with previous projects seeing us work from front reception to operating theatres with the most stringent of cleanliness requirements.
We have directly employed dedicated staff on hand who possess the specific industry qualifications and experience to work within this critical sector as well as the supporting resources to provide additional support where out of hours working is required.
Commercial
Another core area of our company is Commercial and Contracting works and, since 1983, we have been the go-to company for a multitude of local businesses. We have never been afraid of a challenge and are fortunate to have worked with clients with various exciting and challenging backgrounds and forged successful working relationships that have lasted generations.
The range of projects within this sector is broad by definition but has included work for nationally recognised organisations such as Lincolnshire Co-Operative, Mercedes Benz and Jakemans Sweets, through to the construction of the new South Lincs Crematorium and Spalding School of Dance.
With the broad spectrum of works delivered we see projects come to us at all different stages of development, and with a trusted team of architects, engineers and other consulting practices, are able to undertake and management the design stage processes to offer a fully turnkey and approved end product.
Regeneration
The regeneration aspect of our business has been a core area of our work and can be dated back to the company’s inception, undertaking Local Authority kitchen and bathroom refurbishments for South Holland District Council. This ethos is still maintained today with our specialist in-house teams delivering circa £3million of planned maintenance and minor works per annum.
The nature of works involved in these contracts still includes kitchen and bathroom refurbishments for several Local Authorities, as well as additional public sector services such as void upgrades, level access showers, whole house cladding replacements, electrical condition surveying, window replacements, insulation upgrades and asbestos removal.
We fully appreciate that we are working in people’s homes and have set our team out to include dedicated site agents, resident liaison officers and customer care advisors.
Land Sourcing/Joint Venture
The UK Government has targeted 300,000 new homes to be delivered per year, as well various business organisations thriving in todays market and looking to expand. In order to help achieve this demand, we are keen to talk to parties who have access to land that would like to explore the prospect of development. In conjunction with our dedicated team of architects and supporting consultants, we are able to manage the entire design process to bring permitted land forward to construction stage and ensure market values are maintained in a fully transparent process.
We are also able to offer Joint Venture opportunities to land owners who would like to see an additional return over and above their land value, particularly on schemes where speculative market housing is achievable.
